  3. ‘Chromebook’

    July 1, 2011 by Mike

    google-chromebook

Have you heard about the Google Chrome-browser? It’s a very fast and powerful browser from Google, my favorite. Allright, I will not deny I’m a bit of a Google-fan, with my Android’s smartphone and don’t get my started on the most amazing invention of the century: Google Maps and Google Street View. Now, we know that Google wants to compete against giants Apple and Microsoft. Both have their own browsers, their own phones, and know Google also has its own notebook! They like to call it a ‘chromebook’. It’s just like a Linux-based computer a computer with the minimum. It promises you will be on the internet in less than eight seconds. The Chromebook doesn’t have a desktop, nor any other programs. It has an internet browser, which also allows you to open your USB-stick or phone and images. And everything will be on the internet in no-time!

I can explain it all, but it’s easier to just watch the Google Chromebook promotional video yourself for more information. Still, I’m not convinced; I will never buy one of these, while the prices are too high, and my demands too!

Why you should stick to your Windows-computer:
Sure, Windows can be a pain in the ass, but many software (games, programs), printers, phones, webcams, you name it, will not always work even great on your Chromebook, Linux-computer or Mac. Most of these products are based on Windows, because the most people have Windows. And just a heads up; my computer is a Windows, and even cheaper than the cheapest Chromebook. And hell yeah, still workin’ just fine.. (Woh, should not have said that so fast)

  5. Foursquare review

    December 9, 2010 by Mike

I’m now using the Foursquare BlackBerry-app for over a week, and this is my review about it. Earning points and medailles when you achieve something is fun, and a great concept. But it’s getting a bit boring when you ride a bus six times a week or go to school five times a week. But it’s a great way of showing which places you visit that are new to you, or to someone else! It is not yet very popular in the Netherlands, so everytime when I check in somewhere more than twice,  I become a mayor of that particular place. It is crazy to see that all the locations around you are already added. If Foursquare becomes as popular as Twitter and Facebook in the Netherlands, owners of venues will add ads, info, etc. to their own venue, so that someone who checks in sees everyting they need to know about the venue they just entered. Foursquare doesn’t have these options yet.

  6. LimeWire #RestInPeace

    October 29, 2010 by Mike

Well, they did it. The governance officially pulled out the plug of peer-to-peer songs service LimeWire, leaving billions of users worldwide behind. On the offcial website of LimeWire nothing more than a ‘official court injuction to stop its service’. A long search for a replacement is not necessary, while there are billions of other solutions out there. I stopped using LimeWire a long time ago. I’m currently using www.savemp3.net for my mp3-downloads. If not, there are still YouTube downloaders, Torrent downloaders, etcetra. Pulling the plug out of LimeWire isn’t the solution to stop downloading illegal mp3s or movies at all, but whatever.

And now for a moment of silence.

    R.I.P. #LimeWire

Note; I do NOT encourage the illegaly downloading of MP3s and movies. This weblog, the posts and their content are strictly informative, educative and actuality-based.
