  1. The Starbucks invasion!

    November 14, 2011 by Mike

    sbux_logo_today

A few years ago the word ‘Starbucks’ was meaningless in the Dutch society, but now a lot of people are familiar with the all-American-concept. The Starbucks-invasion in the Netherlands, keeps going on! With in the beginning nor at central stations, now even around the corner. Normal in the U.S. and the U.K, but strange for the Netherlands.

If you think Starbucks is only for people who like good coffee, you’re wrong. Take me for example – I detest coffee. But it’s the hazelnut hot chocolate, and the strawberry Frappuchinos that makes me want to come back! If you never been in a Starbucks – make sure to check them out! The Netherlands starts to look like America. The Starbucks invasion is maybe one thing, the way we make and broadcast TV also starts to look like it. And if that’s a good thing? I do not know.. But anyhow, the invasion goes on; tomorrow the next Dutch Starbucks will open in the lovely Hilversum, at its Central Station – and I will be one of the first customers!

  4. Apple & Samsung, huge friends

    September 7, 2011 by Mike

Eerst gaan zij in hoger beroep, tenminste.

  8. Recipe Coca Cola discovered?

    February 15, 2011 by Mike

The website www.thisamericanlife.org seems to have discovered the secret recipe of the great market leader Coca Cola. MSN.nl posted an article about this, a few moments ago. I haven’t been able to get on that site yet, due to a overwelming visitor request on the server probably. We’ll have to wait. It will be a huge fail for the Coca Cola Company who have been keeping it a secret ever since they started.

Here’s the page, try it: http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/427/original-recipe/recipe

  9. Download free and legal music

    November 23, 2010 by Mike

Downloading legal music for free, that’s not possible! It is! In the U.S. then. Advertising is the solution to our problem; we don’t want to pay for something we can get free elsewhere. A sponsor shows you an ad, or let you interact with them, in order to gain a free and legal music download. That’s the way these programs work. In the past programs like Qtrax tried to do the same. They started wrong with a lot of lies, claiming to have deals with various record companies, sponsors and have an database with more songs than iTunes. All of this turned out to be untrue, and the release dates were not gained. After two years of trying, Qtrax is now dead.

In the U.S. two new companies operating on the same way (without the lies then) named Free All Music and Guvera were born. They both have already taken care of the deals with sponsors and record labels and now have to be aware of the fact that they might walk on a path with a dead end. Various sources say that both websites do not have many traffic on their sites. I could not, however, use this service because you need to be an US Citizen, but when this turns out to be working, it might get global. It will help stopping piracy. And most important of all it will help get the music industry back on its feet. It might be a start of a future with loads of software using this technology, creating advertising in order to gain products. Now already services excist that send loads of advertising spam into your inbox with the return of cash rewards.

To gain popularity around these kinds of software, the laws around piracy need to be stronger. Like in France, when you get a warning from your internet provider that when you proceed downloading illegaly, your connection to the internet will be aborted. And in the U.S.A. the FBI uses tracers on torrent files to see who downloads these torrents and there has been said that they will give you a fine when they find out. Maybe its just a tread, maybe not, some people get scared. In other countries like for instance the Netherlands, there are no strong laws about this. It is illegal to share something that has copyright on it, but downloading it is not. It too easy to download illegaly, most people don’t know better.
